Information Services Assessment Council Meeting Minutes

January 09, 2007

Present: James Tumlinson, Ryan Papesh, Darrell McNamara, Sherry Umscheid, Thelma Simons, Jill Glaser, Bill Myers

Absent: Mandy Swygart-Hobaugh, Holly Mercer, John Stratton

Ryan gave us an update on plans to assess user satisfaction in NTS and other help desks. They've decided to hold off on this assessment until after the IT/NTS merger is complete. He mentioned that Chuck LaPointe is moving ahead with the ResNet assessment.

The council discussed the TechQual beta test and our reactions to the survey instrument. Several members mentioned the need for better explanation of minimum and desired levels of service. There may be an opportunity for more IS staff to be involved in the beta test. Myers will participate in a conference call Thursday and find out more. ISAC members were urged to send Myers any recommended changes to the questions so he can send those to Tim Chester, TechQual project director.

Myers urged ISAC members to participate in the KU Research Summit Tuesday, January 16, as it provides a good opportunity to observe and hear what faculty are saying about research, which the provost has said is their number one priority.

The council discussed the IT/NTS merger. Myers has offered the assistance of ISAC to the leadership.

Carrie Towns will attend the next ISAC meeting to discuss data analysis and to tell us more about what the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (OIRP) does.
