Information Services Assessment Council (ISAC) Charge
ISAC's purpose is to enable evidence-based decision-making by fostering and supporting a culture of assessment - an ongoing process in which services, resources and performance are measured against the expectations of users, and improvements are made to satisfy user needs effectively and efficiently.
ISAC is sponsored by the Vice Provost for Information Services and reports directly to that office via the Assessment Coordinator/Chair. ISAC membership includes the IS Assessment Coordinator and representatives from the three major IS divisions - Information Technology, Libraries and Networking & Telecommunications Services. Member selection, length of term and rotation are determined by the Vice Provost in consultation with the Information Services Cabinet. ISAC meets regularly throughout the year, maintaining a flexible bi-weekly schedule as activities dictate. ISAC coordinates with other IS councils, particularly with respect to user services, staff development and organizational effectiveness.
Specifically, ISAC is charged to:
- Identify and support priority assessment activities in collaboration with Information Services leadership and staff.
- Coordinate and advise on all assessment activities within IS.
- Conduct staff development activities related to assessment.
- Develop an IS-wide assessment plan with clearly defined goals, objectives, benchmarks, and support.
- Report assessment results to the IS staff, stakeholders, users and the broader University community.
- Maintain an accessible and functional archive of assessment activities and results.
- Participate in appropriate professional venues and maintain awareness of assessment practices in similar institutions.
- Evaluate assessment program effectiveness and identify resources needed for program advancement.
